It's prescribed burn season and today's burn may produce locally smoky conditions. Ignitions are planned at 10 a.m. today 10/14 on 332 acres 6 miles northwest of Sunriver near Wanoga Butte. To reduce smoke impacts for those who are sensitive to smoke consider keeping doors and windows closed especially during evening and early morning hours.

It's looking like a nice week with warm temperatures, but this is the time of year when we ramp up our winter prep, and one of the big ones is getting your wood fireplace ready. Before your first fire of the season, consider having your chimney professionally inspected and cleaned. Creosote builds up over time and can ignite, and a good cleaning reduces the chance of fire getting to places you don't want it.
