Just because students are out of school doesn't mean we can't keep spreading kindness, acceptance, and inclusion! Today's challenge is all about ACCEPTANCE. Give someone a genuine compliment and let them know what makes them special.

SSD schools and programs will be closed to students Thursday, Oct. 22, and Friday, Oct. 23, for Fall Break. Thursday, Oct. 22, is a professional development day for staff.

It's Unity Week! Join us for five days of kindness, acceptance, and inclusion! 🧡

Each day this week, we're challenging students, staff, and families to take small actions that make a big difference in helping everyone feel they belong.

We're kicking things off with INCLUSION! Today's challenge is to invite three people to join you in an activity, game, or conversation. A simple invitation can go a long way toward making someone feel welcome and included.

More than a ride to school — a team that cares! 🚌👍

It's National School Bus Safety Week, and we're celebrating the incredible transportation professionals who help our students arrive at school safely and ready to learn each day!

Our drivers and bus assistants are often the first and last friendly faces students see during their school day. Through their patience, kindness, and dedication to safety, they build meaningful relationships and help make every ride a positive experience.

LAST CHANCE! Unity Day Art Contest submissions are due TODAY at 3 PM!

There's still time to show us what unity means to you! Students are invited to submit original artwork celebrating unity, kindness, acceptance, inclusion, and belonging as part of our “UNITYeveryDAY” Art Contest.

Digital copies of artwork need to be emailed to SSD's FACE no later than 3 PM today to be included. Be sure to include a brief explanation of how your artwork reflects the Unity Day theme, along with the student's name, age, district, and school.

SSD's FACE (Family and Community Engagement) is celebrating Unity Day on Oct. 21! Students and staff are invited to join us for a week focused on kindness, acceptance, inclusion, and belonging. 🧡

There are plenty of ways to participate:
- Students can show what unity means to them through our “UNITYeveryDAY” Art Contest 🎨🎶💃
- Students and staff can participate in the 5-Day Unity Challenge, starting Oct. 19
- Wear orange on Unity Day, Oct. 21 🩳🥻
