With this beautiful fall weather, it’s hard to believe Christmas is just around the corner, but planning for our annual holiday toy drive is already beginning!

Whether you’re looking to donate a toy or need information on signing up for holiday assistance through the Salvation Army, check out the flyers below for details on how to participate.

Please note: family sign-ups for holiday assistance are handled by the Salvation Army, not the Fire Department. Please follow the instructions on the Salvation Army flyer for registration information.

Our members recently completed rescue training at the BNSF Taconite Facility. The training was coordinated and led by Captain Jeff Allen.

Each platoon worked through two rescue scenarios: one in the rail car unloading area and another at the ship loading dock. Firefighters practiced a variety of skills, including aerial operations, rope rescue, patient packaging, and lockout/tagout procedures.

Thank you to the BNSF Taconite Facility for providing the opportunity to train in this industrial environment. Hands-on training like this helps us maintain and strengthen the skills needed to respond to challenging rescue situations.

You may have noticed 343 American flags in front of our Headquarters fire station. Each flag represents a Firefighter that was killed in the line of duty on 9/11. Twenty five years later we remember the sacrifices made that day.

SFD is proud to say that the new Rosenbauer RTX is in service as Engine 1! This morning it went on its first run! The headquarters crew on Platoon 3 responded to a medical emergency with the new truck. The all electric vehicle will serve the City of Superior and Twin Ports for many years to come!

A happy ending for one grateful duck family!

After a concerned citizen reported that nine ducklings had fallen into a storm drain, the crew from Engine 3 responded to help. With a little patience (and while being loudly scolded by the very protective parent ducks), the crew safely rescued all nine ducklings.

Once everyone was out and accounted for, the duck family was happily reunited and waddled off together.
