Supervisor’s Administrative Leave and Internal Affairs Investigation

The supervisor was placed on paid administrative leave pending an Internal Affairs investigation after allegations were made concerning their conduct. Administrative leave is a precautionary measure used to allow an investigation to proceed objectively, thoroughly, and without disruption. It is not a finding of wrongdoing or an indication that the allegations have been substantiated.

To promote further transparency and ensure an objective review, the Probation Department assigned the Internal Affairs investigation to an outside, independent investigator who was not involved in the underlying matter.

The supervisor fully cooperated with the investigation and remained committed to allowing the process to run its course. Following a comprehensive review of the allegations, relevant information, and available evidence, Internal Affairs concluded that the allegations were not sustained. The investigation did not substantiate the alleged misconduct, and the findings did not support the allegations made against the supervisor.

As a result, the supervisor has returned to duty.

We understand that the placement of a supervisor on administrative leave can create questions and, at times, uncertainty for employees and members of the community. We believe it is important to provide clarity regarding the outcome while also respecting the confidentiality of personnel matters. Although the details of the investigation cannot be publicly disclosed, we can state that the allegations were investigated and were not substantiated.

The agency recognizes the seriousness of allegations involving an employee, just as it recognizes the importance of protecting employees from having their reputation unfairly defined by allegations that are not supported by the investigative findings. The process must provide fairness to everyone involved.

The supervisor has continued to conduct themselves professionally throughout this matter and remains committed to serving the agency and community with integrity, professionalism, and accountability. The agency considers this matter resolved based on the findings of the Internal Affairs investigation.
