The Landmark Theatre has been the literal landmark of Sutton for so many years. Many generations have walked onto that stage and put on some of the BEST performances Sutton, WV has ever seen! We’ve heard many stories throughout the years of how being apart of the Landmark changed so many lives, and put such an impression on so many individuals. Let’s keep it alive!

WHY IS OUR FUNDRAISING GOAL $5,000?

We’ve been asked: “If the Landmark needs so much work, why is the goal only $5,000?”

Because $5,000 is a starting point, not the total cost of everything the Landmark needs.

In the 2025–2026 fiscal year, the Landmark spent $7,611.49 on building repairs and maintenance. That year was especially expensive due to the water break and flooding caused by freezing temperatures in early 2025.

In a typical year, around $5,000 helps cover basic repairs and maintenance for our historic building. But we’re now facing larger needs, including HVAC, the roof, sound equipment, ceiling fans, and other building repairs. These projects will cost far more than $5,000.

So why set the goal at $5,000? Because we have to start somewhere.

We are a small nonprofit and cannot tackle every major project at once. We also pursue grants, but larger grants often require matching funds. For example, a $10,000 grant may require us to raise $10,000 ourselves first.

That means community donations can do more than help with repairs today. They can help us build the resources and matching funds needed to pursue larger projects in the future.

We’re not pretending $5,000 will fix everything. We know it won’t. But it can help us address immediate needs, build our resources, and take the next step toward the larger work this building needs.

And if we raise more than $5,000? Even better.

We’re not asking you to fix the Landmark with one donation. We’re asking you to help us start: KEEP THE LANDMARK STANDING.
