Roundabout update for PNS and Archbold Whitehouse.

Week 1 of our final roundabout of the season has come and gone. Geddis Paving & Excavating, Inc., fresh off completing the two roundabouts in Monclova Township, Ohio, are back to work on this one. They stripped away the road down to its base and began drainage upgrades.

Similar to the one completed earlier this season at Monclova and Wilkins Road, this roundabout will not have any sidewalks, so concrete work will be more limited and should take less total time. This still remains a 45-day closure per contract but they could be completed a few days earlier.

Drainage work will continue into next week.

REMINDER: The township portion of PNS Road located east of the intersection is a one-way road that runs north. This is not to be used for two-way traffic.

Lucas County Plan Commission Meeting for Zoning Change in Swanton Township.

The Lucas County Plan Commission will hold a meeting regarding zoning change requests on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at 9am.

The public hearing will be held at One Government Center, located at the corner of Jackson Boulevard and Erie Street, in Council Chambers.

🚧 ROAD CLOSURE 🚧
The intersection of Archbold Whitehouse Road and Providence-Neapolis-Swanton Rd (PNS) will be closed beginning SEPTEMBER 14 to all traffic for roundabout construction.

📅 WHEN:
Starts SEPT. 14
Approximately 45 days
Weather permitting

🚧 WHAT TO EXPECT:
The intersection will be closed to all traffic. Local traffic will be able to access their homes on both roadways up until the intersection, but you will not be able to go through the intersection during the project.

Please follow posted detour signs to keep yourself and our workers safe during construction.

Shoulder work is being conducted on Girdham Road between Reed Road and Monclova Road the next several days. The work is not expected to result in any lane closures.

I was pleasantly surprised by the turnout from Swanton Township residents at our Dumpster Day today!

It was great to see so many residents in person and have the opportunity for some short conversations along the way.

My goal in proposing this event was simple: give our residents a convenient place to get rid of unwanted items, especially larger items that don’t fit in normal curbside pickup and, unfortunately, sometimes end up being illegally dumped or burned.

Based on today’s turnout, I think it’s safe to say we’ll definitely consider doing more events like this in the future.

In just 5 hours, Swanton Township residents filled two 30-yard dumpsters, and we collected a load of scrap metal as well!

Thank you to everyone who came out, followed the guidelines, and helped make our first Dumpster Day a success. We really enjoyed getting a chance to talk with many of you.

SWANTON TOWNSHIP – Land-Air Commerce Park – a development between the turnpike, Eugene F. Kranz Toledo Express Airport and Berkey-Southern Road – is poised for rezoning to accommodate three large warehouses, a truck terminal and other facilities, Swanton Township, Ohio Zoning Inspector Ben Mooney told township trustees during their Aug. 11 meeting.

Interstate Capital recently purchased 14 parcels and is asking to rezone 13 properties totaling 112 acres. Current zoning is a mixture of C-4, M-1 and an overlay district. The owners are asking for a uniform M-1 zoning. The proposal will be heard by the Lucas County Planning Commission during its Wednesday, Sept. 23, 9 a.m. meeting at 1 Government Center.

Land-Air Commerce Park is currently home to Game One, a 131,800-square-foot light manufacturing facility, and Velocity, a managed technology solutions provider that recently began a a $1.5 million expansion with plans to add 40 employees.
