🎃 SWANZEY TOWN-WIDE TRICK-OR-TREATING 🎃

Get ready for Halloween! Town-wide trick-or-treating in Swanzey takes place on Saturday, October 31st from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Help keep our community safe and enjoyable for everyone by keeping these safety guidelines in mind:

👻 Trick-or-Treating Safety
-Stay Visible: Wear bright or reflective clothing, carry flashlights, or use glow sticks so drivers can spot you easily after sunset.
-Travel Together: Children should stay in groups accompanied by a trusted adult.
-Use Sidewalks & Crosswalks: Walk on sidewalks whenever available, and cross streets at designated crosswalks or corners rather than mid-block.
-Safe Costumes: Make sure costumes fit properly to prevent tripping, and use face paint instead of masks that restrict vision.
-Inspect Treats First: Wait until you return home so an adult can inspect all candy before eating.

🚗 Driver Safety
-Slow Down: Drive below posted speed limits throughout residential neighborhoods during trick-or-treating hours.
-Watch for Pedestrians: Expect excited children to step off sidewalks or cross streets unexpectedly between parked cars.
-Eliminate Distractions: Keep cell phones put away and give the road your full attention.
-Check Driveways: Use extreme caution when backing out of or pulling into driveways or roadways.

💡 Porch Light Etiquette
-Participating Homes: Keep your exterior porch and walkway lights ON to indicate you are handing out treats and to provide a safe, well-lit path for visitors.
-Not Participating? If you are not participating or run out of candy, keep your exterior porch lights OFF so trick-or-treaters know to bypass your house.

Have a safe, happy, and spooky Halloween, Swanzey! 🍬🎃
