That’s a wrap on the Miami Security Forum hosted by the Heritage Foundation. It was an incredible opportunity to hear from world leaders and national experts on how we can collaborate more effectively to build a safer Western Hemisphere and a stronger United States. I had the privilege of connecting with an inspiring group of leaders, including two governors and diplomats from Australia, Sweden, Norway, the European Union, and several countries from across Latin America such as the Dominican Republic, Argentina, and Colombia. It was especially an honor to meet Governor Mike Dunleavy of Alaska and Governor Jennifer González-Colón of Puerto Rico. This summit was both enlightening and impactful and an experience that will stay with me forever.

Today we remember the four brave men of Brothers to the Rescue: Armando Alejandre Jr., Mario de la Peña, Carlos Costa, and Pablo Morales, whose lives were tragically taken 30 years ago. They flew not for politics, but for humanity, searching the waters for Cuban rafters risking everything for freedom. Their courage represents the deep love of liberty that lives in our community and in so many families here in Sweetwater.

We honor their sacrifice.
We stand with the cause of freedom.
And we will never forget.
