🎉Help Us Celebrate 100 Years of DeKalb County 4-H! 🎉

Do you have 4-H memorabilia tucked away at home? As we celebrate 100 years of DeKalb County 4-H, we would love to display items that highlight our history!

We're looking for old 4-H photos, ribbons, pins, project books, fair memorabilia, club scrapbooks, and other items from years past. Items from your own 4-H experience or your family's history are welcome!

Please contact Nicole at [email protected] by November 9 if you have items you'd be willing to share for our centennial display at the 4-H Recognition Program on November 14.

Let's celebrate the generations of 4-H members, families, and volunteers who have helped make DeKalb County 4-H what it is today!

Many hands made light work today, and we finished in record time!

DeKalb County 4-H families came together to prepare a meal for 70 people at Hope Haven, our local homeless shelter. They made sloppy joes, coleslaw, mac and cheese, and cakes.

We are proud to see our 4-H’ers and their families putting “Making the Best Better” into action! Thank you to everyone who helped!

DeKalb County 4-H is saddened by the passing of Orrin Vandeburg, who served as the Parke Victory 4-H leader for 67 years. His dedication to the program and its members will be remembered and appreciated by all who knew him.

NEW THIS YEAR AT THE NATURAL RESOURCE EDUCATION CENTER: FOREST QUEST 2026! Choose one or BOTH of our school-day-off adventures:
📅 November 23 & November 24
⏰ 9 AM–3 PM each day
📍 Natural Resource Education Center, Russell Woods Forest Preserve, 11750 State Rt 72, Genoa, IL
👧🧒 Ages 7–11 (must have completed 1st grade)
🎒 Bring a lunch + water bottle
$40 per child/per day.
Each day has its own theme, with hands-on adventures involving insects, reptiles, birds, mammals, plants, and whatever else the forest decides to throw into the plot. Kids will explore Russell Woods, hiking between the Natural Resource Education Center and the stove-heated cabins, with activities grouped by age.
🌟 Only 20 spots per day, and these spots tend to disappear FAST!
Forest Quest is offered through University of Illinois Extension and the DeKalb County Forest Preserve District and is led by Extension staff.
