Tonight, twenty Winfield Ladies Auxiliary and Fire Department members attended the annual Maryland Fire-Rescue Memorial Services Foundation Gala at the DoubleTree Hotel in Annapolis, MD. We presented a combined donation of $1500.00 to the foundation. We gave a lift to Mr. Bob Cumberland and we think he's ready for another adventure with the Winfield gang. A big thanks to Shannon-Baum Signs for the donation of the oversized check for the presentation.

Today, we celebrated the life of Galen Buckingham. Galen was a life member of the Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department, joining in 1968. Family, friends and co-workers had wonderful things to say about Galen, as well as fire department Chaplain Sam Mann. The one thing the fire department members chatted about was how lucky of a gambler Galen was; you always wanted to touch his block or purchase the raffle ticket right before or after his, hoping for some of his luck to rub off on you! Many thanks to RK's Pit Crew members Ricky Warner, Amy Boone, Mike Kemp, and Zac Warner for preparing today's meal. Thank you to those members who baked today, and to Larry Lovell, Judy Lovell, Judy Poole, Linda Laster, Tammy Farver, Donna Mellin, Jeannette Marlatt and Debbie Gartrell-Kemp for serving today's meal. RIP Galen.
