I’m proud to stand with the men and women who work every day to keep North Carolina safe.

NC House Republicans are supporting significant investments in law enforcement, including:

✅ 20.3% average raises for SBI and ALE officers
✅ 17.7% for the State Highway Patrol
✅ 15.4% for correctional officers
✅ 10.1% for probation and parole officers
✅ 13% for other state law enforcement officers
✅ $1,750 bonuses for local officers
✅ Improved retirement benefit options
✅ New positions to crack down on criminals

Our law enforcement officers deserve the tools, pay and support they need to protect our communities. I will continue standing with them and supporting the important work they do across North Carolina.

Our mom, Mary Jane Ferguson, was instrumental in helping the YMCA open Camp Wataia.

She saw a big discrepancy in the number of summer camps located in WNC verses the number of local children who attend these camps.

Then she worked to create a place that kids from all walks of life could experience and enjoy.

It was a delight and honor to see this vision in action filled with kids and experiences that she would have been proud of. We miss her, but love the things she left behind.

It was wonderful to join nearly 800 people in Whittier for the annual Smoky Mountain Friends of NRA banquet!

Thank you to everyone who came out for an evening of fellowship, dinner, auctions and fundraising in support of shooting sports and firearm safety programs. A special thank you to K&B Meat Processing for catering the event and the West Swain Fire Department for helping make the evening possible.

I was proud to sponsor this year’s banquet and enjoyed spending time with so many friends and neighbors from across Western North Carolina.

Congratulations to my fellow State Representative, Jennifer Balkcom, on being selected as the Republican nominee for North Carolina's 11th Congressional District.

Jennifer has deep roots in Western North Carolina, and it shows in how she serves. She's spoken about stepping up because our region needs a strong voice right now, especially as our communities continue rebuilding from Hurricane Helene. I've seen that same commitment in her work representing Henderson County in the State House.

Congratulations, Rep. Balkcom! I'm looking forward to seeing you continue fighting for the people of the 11th District.

This past Saturday, August 8th, I was out in the district connecting with the people who keep our communities safe.

I stopped by the Cedar Mountain Fire Department blood drive on Saturday and rolled up her sleeve to give blood herself. Later that day, she headed over to the Qualla Fire Station for their BBQ fundraiser, spending time with firefighters and neighbors alike, including Shandell Denton and Fire Chief Jarrod Frizzell.

Thank you to all of our volunteers and firefighters and all you do for Jackson, Swain, and Transylvania counties and the Qualla Boundary.
