🚨HURRICANE ISAIAS UPDATE 🚨

Savannah Volunteer Fire Department would like to provide our community with an update regarding Hurricane Isaias.

While our area is not expected to take a direct hit, we encourage everyone to remain weather-aware and prepared. Even when a storm does not make a direct hit, it can still bring heavy rain, strong winds, downed trees, and hazardous road conditions.

⚠️ A few important reminders:
•Stay tuned to local weather alerts and official updates.
•Secure outdoor furniture and loose items.
•Keep flashlights, batteries, and essential supplies available.
•Avoid unnecessary travel during hazardous weather.
•Never drive through flooded roadways.
•Check on elderly neighbors and anyone who may need assistance.

Our department will continue to monitor conditions and remain ready to assist our community if needed.Please stay safe, stay informed, and look out for one another! 🚒

Savannah Fire Department is hosting our 2nd annual food drive. Please come out and help support those in our community that are in need! Donations may be dropped off at Savannah Fire department at 18 Ralph Tatham Road Monday-Friday 7:30am-3:30pm.

🖤 Savannah Volunteer Fire Department extends our deepest condolences following the tragic loss of Franklin Police Department Officer Marcus McCarson. This loss hits especially close to home for the first responder family, as Marcus’s father-in-law and two brothers-in-law are members of the Franklin Fire & Rescue family. Our hearts are with them and with everyone who knew and loved Marcus.

The Savannah Volunteer Fire Department stands alongside the Franklin Police Department, Franklin Fire & Rescue, and the entire first responder community during this incredibly difficult I time. Rest easy, Officer McCarson. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. 🖤💙

It is with profound sadness and very heavy hearts that we share the passing of one of our own.

Franklin Police Department Officer Marcus McCarson tragically died yesterday, September 17, 2026, in a two-vehicle collision while off-duty doing what he loved: riding his motorcycle.
He was only 21 years of age, and had just begun his law enforcement career with the FPD in December 2025. Before joining law enforcement he served in the United States Marine Corps.
He was a devoted husband to his amazing wife Abby, and became a new father just two months ago to his precious daughter Azzi. He was also very cherished by his own family, as well as, Abby's family who treated him like their own.

Marcus was loved like a little brother by everyone here at the PD. He served the Town of Franklin with the utmost professionalism and integrity for which we are most grateful.

Please keep his family, friends, and our department in your thoughts and prayers during the grieving days ahead.

Funeral arrangements are as follows:

The family will receive friends on
Tuesday, September 22nd
11am-1pm at the
Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts.

A funeral service will follow at 1pm.
Rev. David Dickerson will officiate.

Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

🚑 It’s Time for Our Annual Community CPR Class! ❤️
Our FREE Community CPR Class is coming up, and everyone is welcome!

🕕 Time: 6:00 PM
📍 Location: Cullowhee Rec Center
You might be wondering how this class is free. With the help of a grant from The Great Smokies Health Foundation, along with support from area fire departments and rescue squads, we’re able to offer this life-saving training to our community at no cost!
