Farmers Market: Don’t forget that you can use your SNAP benefits at some local farmers markets. At the welcome table at the farmers market, ask if they accept EBT as a form of payment. If they do, they should give you a market scrip in exchange for your EBT payment.

Keep in mind that at some markets the option to use EBT depends on the vendor.

Contact our office for more information on farmers markets in NAME COUNTY AND CONTACT INFO.

What is SNAP? : Have you ever heard about the SNAP program? SNAP stands for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and was previously known as “food stamps.” It can also be called FNS (Food and Nutrition Services) in North Carolina.

SNAP Household: On the SNAP application, the word "household" refers to people who live together and buy and cook food together. 🏠

College roommates, for example, would be considered two separate households if they don't buy and cook their meals together. Parents living with adult children may also be considered separate households.

Knowing your household size is important as that determines the income limits you will have to follow to find out if you are eligible for SNAP.

Have questions? If you would like to find out if you are eligible for SNAP, call the More In My Basket office at 1-855-240-1451.

Rollover Benefits: Did you know? You don't have to use your SNAP benefits right away. 💳 🛒

If approved for benefits, you will receive a monthly allotment determined by your local DSS office. Benefits not used by the end of the month can be used the next month, meaning they can add up over time. Keep in mind, however, that benefits not used for 12 months will expire.
