Yesterday, late afternoon, the Syosset Volunteer Fire Department was alerted for smoke in the area in the vicinity of Birchwood Park Drive. About one minute later, the Jericho Fire Department was alerted for a house fire on Bounty Lane (a block away, on the border). Both Syosset and Jericho units responded to this fire in the Jericho Fire District and worked together to extinguish the blaze. Thank you to the standby companies that covered our district while we operated. Units worked under the command of Jericho Chief of Department 9401.

Today, we remember the innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the 343 members of the FDNY who made the ultimate sacrifice while answering the call to duty.

We remember their courage.
We remember their sacrifice.
We remember their families.
We remember those who have since passed from 9/11 illness including our own FF Court Cousins.
And we remember the heroes who ran toward danger when others were running away.

The Syosset Fire Department invites the community to join us tonight for our 9/11 Memorial Service.

📍 Memorial Park - 50 Cold Spring Road
🕢 7:30 PM

The public is welcome to attend this candlelight ceremony as we come together as a community to honor those we lost and ensure that their sacrifice is never forgotten.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸
