Against all odds, and in spite of decades of effort by the State of New York and the United States to remove the Senecas altogether, the Tonawanda Seneca Nation has successfully fought to preserve its small, biologically diverse reservation territory and to maintain its cultural and spiritual ways. Join Christine Abrams (Tonawanda Seneca Beaver Clan) as she discusses the Nation’s history, culture, and current threats in the form of a massive industrial development along its borders.

Applications for the Indigenous Writer in Residency program at Cranberry Lake Biological Station are open!

✒️ Three, three-week residency slots take place May 24 - June 12, June 14 - July 3, and July 19 - August 7. Housing includes a private room and workspace as well as three meals a day. A $1,000 stipend is also included.

✅ The residency is open to Indigenous writers over 21 years of age who write poetry, plays/screenplays, fiction/short stories, and/or nonfiction.
