A town councilor in Cicero has been cited for keeping farm animals — two goats and a cow — in the yard of her suburban home.

Ashley Hogan, a Republican, said "everyone is aware" she is temporarily fostering the three baby animals who need to be bottle-fed after being rejected by their mothers. But after complaints by two neighbors, code officers cited the councilor for having livestock in her residential neighborhood.

“We expect our town officials to follow the law,” Cicero Town Supervisor Rob Santucci, a Democrat, said. “This is unacceptable behavior in a residential neighborhood.”

Hogan said she plans to look into whether the town's administration misused resources by citing her.

“It is unfortunate that we are willing to waste the town of Cicero’s time and money on this temporary situation," Hogan said in a statement.
