Is your garage overloaded with a winter collection of redeemable cans and bottles? Here’s your chance to do a little spring cleaning and support Honor Flight Syracuse at the same time.

Volunteers from Honor Flight Syracuse and TOMRA are accepting bottles and cans on Saturday and Sunday, April 25 and 26, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at the following location:

* Destiny USA (Syracuse, NY) - Lot at the Corner of Solar St. and Hiawatha Blvd next to the Embassy Suites. (enter on Solar St)

Honor Flight Syracuse will receive six cents per can!

When you bring your cans and bottles back to the locations identified below any time during the year, please inform the customer service representative that you are donating the nickels to Honor Flight Syracuse specifically.

HFS will receive a nickel per can/bottle.

No hydrant? No problem! Our crews recently conducted training in drafting operations, allowing us to leverage local ponds, lakes, streams, swimming pools, and other static water sources to fulfill our mission requirements in the absence of a municipal water supply.

Fire department usually can’t do it alone. We rely on each other for mutual aid and support to complete our missions. Tuesday evening, North Syracuse Fire Department came out in force with Truck 1 for some airport familiarization and great joint training!

Due to the nature of the job, the National Institutes of Health says firefighters have a higher risk of being diagnosed with cancer.
