As say farewell to summer and hello to fall, our crews are wrapping up important work to prepare the electric system for the months ahead.

One of the biggest ways we help reduce storm-related outages is by trimming trees and vegetation near power lines. Fallen branches and overgrown trees are among the leading causes of power outages during fall and winter storms. By clearing vegetation before severe weather arrives, we're helping reduce outages, improve safety, and make it easier for crews to restore power if storms do occur.

It's one more way we're preparing the system now so it's ready when the weather changes.

From the crews operating our hydro projects to the mechanics maintaining our fleet, your utility is made up of people who live, work, and serve right here in our community.

It’s Public Power Week, and we’re celebrating our legacy of citizen-led utility service by joining more than 2,000 community-owned utilities nationwide in honoring the strength of public power.

We take great pride in being publicly owned since 1893. Generation after generation, the people who call Tacoma home have helped power this community by building, maintaining, and serving the utility that belongs to all of us.

That local connection is at the heart of public power, and is what makes your utility more than the power we provide. It’s the people who make it happen.
