Come join Malaya Tacoma in studying EsKum (Espesyal na Kursong Masa)! 🌾🔥

As part of the PADEPA (Pambansang Demokratikong Paaralan) or National Democratic School, this special course on the masses will help us deepen our understanding of the land struggle, the peasant movement, and the role of the women and youth in the struggle for genuine agrarian and societal change. It will allow us to more deeply understand the issues of the land struggle and link those with the current issues of forced migration, the conditions of Negros island, and Pax Silica.

Collectively, we will learn:
- The History and Roots of the land struggle in the Philippines
- The conditions of the peasants, particularly the women and youth
- The role of the peasant class in the mass movement

Malaya Tacoma Denounces the LIES Perpetuated by the Philippine Consulate about helping Tatay Loreto ‼️

It is an unsurprising shame that the Philippine Consulate this morning, September 3rd at 6:30AM PST, tried to take credit for the release of Tatay Loreto. Their statement even went as far as thanking ICE for their so-called "humanitarian gesture."

Tatay Loreto's release was not a result of ICE's non-existent humanity but the outcome of the public pressure of the mass movement and our on-the-ground work. At the start of Tatay Loreto's detention, the family had been asking the Philippine Consulate for help but they were nowhere to be found throughout this fight.

The fight continues ❗️

Tatay Loreto was released on his own recognizance from the Northwest Detention Center on September 1st. This is a huge victory for the family and the mass movement behind them. However, the fight is not over. Tatay has an ICE Check-in on September 4th 9AM at the USCIS Office in Tukwila and he still has an ICE ankle monitor on.

Mobilize with us to continue defending Tatay Loreto and supporting the family. We will also demand the following:

1. Accountability from ICE and the The GEO Group for the medical violence they perpetrated against Tatay Loreto by not giving him his cancer medicine.
2. Immediate removal of his Ankle Monitor and cessation of all ICE surveillance
3. Full dismissal of his case

PEOPLE'S VICTORY 🎉🔥

Tatay Loreto Has Been Released! After two months imprisoned inside the NWDC, he is out with an ankle monitor. The fight isn't over as we address his medical needs and prepare for his upcoming hearing on the 28th.

TATAY LORETO IS FREE! It is because of the tireless work and strength of the family fighting with the Filipino mass movement that we were able to free Tatay from the NWDC! But the fight continues, we discovered that the NWDC failed to give Tatay Loreto his cancer medication the past 2 months he has been at the detention center! We demand that the PH Consulate condemn this medical violence and provide meaningful support like they said they would.

Help Tatay get his ankle monitor off and release his medical records now! FREE THEM ALL!

URGENT UPDATE: After todays hearing: Tatay is being forced to stay another MONTH at the detention center while battling stage 4 cancer. Despite promising Tatay that they would help him, the Philippine consulate has failed to intervene, apply diplomatic pressure, or even assist in obtaining the necessary paperwork for his release. This is another show of the Philippine government neglecting their kababayan in distress just to bow down at the hands of the US government and help them reach their inhumane "2000 detentions a day" quota. SHAME!

The Philippine Consulate said that they would provide support, but they have not shown up or provided meaningful assistance in the 2 months hes been trapped in the NWDC suffering with stage 4 cancer. Tatay Loreto, a 78-year-old migrant with Stage 4 prostate cancer, is missing his oncology appointments and facing inhumane conditions in the Northwest Detention Center (NWDC). As his health deteriorates, the Philippine Consulate of Seattle continues to neglect their Filipino national in distress.
Join Malaya Movement Tacoma, and Tanggol Migrante Movement for a week of action as we uplift the demands of Tatay Loreto’s family to the Philippine Consulate.

Please support our continuous Migrante Defense Fund to support migrant workers in distress. We are requesting community support to assist a kababayan to return to their home state and reunite with their family.

As our fellow kababayan are exploited and abused under the US-Marcos regime, its Consulates, and its Embassy have continually left them to suffer with no assistance. We recognize that the Seattle Consulate and Consul General Henry Bensurto Jr. are not public servants meant to uphold the rights and welfare of Overseas Filipinos in distress, but bureaucratic capitalists meant to serve the greedy interests of the US-Marcos regime.

Our community has stepped up time and time again as the fascist, neglectful state has failed to address the needs and interests of our kababayan. In the absence of support from the PH government, we call on our community to step up to address the failures of our government.
