Taconite Fire Department

TFD is looking for a few good people to join our department filling immediate auxiliary positions. This is a probationary role to allow a “feel out” period for both the candidate and the department. Candidates will need to pass a firefighter physical and live within a 10 minute response time to either of our stations. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent. Firefighter and EMR training is provided. Tonight we were presented with a donation check for $4000 from Tabitha at the Calumet Saloon. These funds were generated by their non profit gaming. We will use these funds to update our hose and replace tires on our side by side rescue vehicle. We can’t say how thankful we are for this generous donation!

Yesterday was such a fun day and the weather was beautiful. Thank you again to all of those that purchased your Gunner T shirts. Maria’s design captured his spirit perfectly. Because of you all, and Stacie at Central Ave Design Co.’s generosity, we raised almost $4000! With these funds and a grant through the City of Taconite we will be installing a gazebo in the Taconite Park in memory of our pal.

We still have a few tickets left. Get with any member for your chance to win. Drawing is this Saturday at 4:00pm at the Fire Hall.
This Saturday is also our City Picnic. We have a new start time of 3:00pm. TFD will be serving hotdogs, polish, and burgers to all residents of Taconite. Kids’ games will kick off right after the raffle drawing and will be the bird seed pile, egg toss, and water balloons. At 6:00pm we ask that everyone put on the Gunner Jurgansen memorial shirts for a group photo in front of the Taconite American Legion. Chris Carlson will be capturing this photo from up above with a drone.
Then at 8pm, we’ll have a street dance featuring Jacked.
