Buy more cotton. Wear more cotton 🌱

That round module weighs around 5,500 pounds coming out of the picker.

After it goes through the cotton gin and the fiber is separated from the seed, that one module will produce roughly 4 finished 480-pound bales of cotton lint.

To put that in perspective, that much cotton could make approximately:

👖 1,175 pairs of men's jeans
👕 7,200 men's knit shirts
🛏️ 1,700 sheets & pillowcases
🧦 32,900 pairs of socks & hosiery
🛁 2,400 cotton towels

But cotton doesn't stop at clothing.

Cotton is two crops in one: fiber AND seed. The cottonseed separated at the gin is used for livestock feed, cottonseed meal, cottonseed oil (found in cooking oils and snack foods) and hulls. Even the tiny fibers left on the seed, called linters, have uses.

Very little of that plant goes to waste.

So when we say buy more cotton, we're talking about a crop that produces fiber, food and feed, all from the same acre.

Texas farmers and ranchers: Mark your calendars for FY2027 conservation funding!

📅 Apply by November 13, 2026, to be considered for funding. Applications are being accepted through EQIP, CSP, ACEP, and the Regenerative Pilot.

💧 Considering drip irrigation? EQIP may help cost-share qualifying drip irrigation improvements that address conservation needs, subject to NRCS eligibility and approval.

For growers across the High and Rolling Plains, we’re happy to help you explore drip irrigation options and plan a system ahead of the deadline. Starting the conversation now gives you time to discuss your proposed project with NRCS and understand the application requirements.

Call us today to start planning your drip irrigation system, and contact your local NRCS office to confirm program eligibility, required paperwork, and the applicable deadline

Already have an unfunded application on file? Ask NRCS whether it needs to be updated or resubmitted for FY2027 consideration.
