ARE YOU READY TO VOTE IN THE GENERAL ELECTION?

The November 2026 election is just ONE WEEK away! Although it is not a presidential election, YOU have a voice in what happens and who represents your county/state.

Not sure what’s on your ballot? Enter your address / zip code on the FL Ballotpedia website and follow along with your printed sample ballot/mail in ballot (that you should have received if registered to vote)! Consider voting for state legislators that are likely to support music therapy, especially those who’s positions are related to the TF’s work:
* Governor and Lieutenant Governor
* Chief Financial Officer
* Commissioner of Agriculture
* State Senator & Representative

Early voting is open NOW, but Election Day is also on Nov 3! Tag us with your sticker to be reposted on our story as a reminder to our community to do our civic duty.

INTRODUCING OUR MUSIC THERAPY COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: BROOKS REHAB!

Brooks Rehabilitation serves a variety of ages and populations throughout Northeast and Central Florida, including spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, pediatrics, and other neurologic conditions. Their music therapy team consists of three full time music therapists working throughout their system, including inpatient rehab hospitals.

Brooks Rehab’s mission is “to empower people to achieve their highest level of recovery and participation in life through excellence in rehabilitation”.

INTRODUCING OUR MUSIC THERAPY COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: KREATE CARE SERVICES!

Kreate Care Services was recently founded by Gabriela Ocon, MM, MT-BC, NMT. Gabriela completed her masters in music therapy at University of Miami earlier this year and received her Bachelors in Music Therapy from Loyola University in New Orleans.

Her practice, Kreate Care Services serves Miami-Dade county, and provides expressive arts, music therapy (both groups and individual sessions), mommy and me classes for music enrichment and creative programming. Kreate Care’s mission is to provide “children of all abilities creative therapies, family programming, and supportive services”.

FLORIDA MUSIC THERAPY STUDENTS - WE NEED YOU!

As a current team of board-certified professionals (& 1 music therapy intern!) the Florida Music Therapy Task Force is looking for university MT students to join us. Student liaisons will help bridge the gap between our TF efforts and our future music therapists.

We are looking for MT students who:
* Will be attending FSU, FGCU, FIU, and/or UM in the 2026-2027 school year (no interns for this role).
* Can commit to attending monthly FLMTTF Meetings (typically Wednesday night @7:30) and dispersing information to MT students.
* Are passionate about MT Advocacy!

INTRODUCING OUR MUSIC THERAPY COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: NEURO MUSIC THERAPY!

Neuro Music Therapy was established in 2017, providing in-person and virtual, individual/group music therapy, adapted lessons, music enrichment, and art therapy. They are based in South FL and work with all ages and a wide variety of populations.

Neuro Music Therapy’s mission is to “unlock abundance for medically fragile children and patients who need specialized attention and expressive outlets to improve their quality of life”. INTRODUCING OUR MUSIC THERAPY COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: HARMONIC HEALTH MUSIC THERAPY!

Harmonic Health Music Therapy (HHMT) was established in 2023, providing in-person individualized and group music therapy services. They are based in South FL (Miami-Dade and Broward counties) and work with pediatric populations.

Stephanie Epstein, MM, MT-BC founded Harmonic Health Music Therapy with the mission of “empowering children with complex medical needs through expert, evidence-based music therapy while partnering with healthcare facilities to advance compassionate, exceptional care through clinical services, supervision, and consultation.”
HHMT is currently hiring contractors for Miami-Dade and Broward counties! They are a facility-based practice, meaning MT-BC’s see multiple patients at the same facility during visits. Contact Stephanie Epstein ([email protected]) for more information.

Outside of her work with HHMT, Stephanie is the founder, lead music therapist, and internship director at Holtz Children’s Hospital at UM/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL. She serves as the Vice-Chair of the Ukulele Kids Club, a non-profit organization that donates ukuleles to pediatric music therapy programs across the world. She has been featured in local, regional, and national media for her work, and she frequently lectures and regional and national music therapy and medical conferences. She was also featured as an expert panelist for Renée Fleming’s Music and the Mind lecture series.
