‼️SCAM Alert 🚨
Scammers are back with new tactics and they’re getting smarter and bolder. In this latest version, they claim you missed a court date.
To make the scam seem real, they may:
- Use the names of actual judges or sheriff’s deputies
- Send text messages with fake but official-looking paperwork
Remember: The Hillsborough Clerk of Court & Comptroller and local law enforcement will NEVER call, text, or email you to demand payment for missing a court date.
If you receive a suspicious message, contact your local law enforcement agency.

In the latest edition of the Hillsborough County Bar Association's Lawyer magazine, Clerk Crist talks about how improving efficiency means better service while at the same time saving money at the Clerk’s Office.

The Hillsborough County Clerk’s Office will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day. Staff will be available to assist you with filing for a restraining order from 7am until 10am at the Edgecomb Courthouse located at 800 E. Twiggs St. Tampa

Congratulations, to honorable Judge McEwan who the Hillsborough County Bar Association recognized with the 2026 Margaret D. Mathews Mentoring Award today at the HCBA’s Law Day luncheon. Judge McEwan is well known for lifting up and mentoring attorneys on their professional journeys!
