Federal sentences handed down for five Brevard County men who carried out a violent armed robbery in Ybor City, shooting a nightclub manager before fleeing with the proceeds.
According to evidence presented in court, the group planned the robbery together, traveled to Tampa in two vehicles, concealed their identities, and violently took control of the business. During the robbery, one of the men shot the manager in the face before fleeing with the club’s proceeds. Tampa's Violent Crime and Safe Streets Task Force worked this case. Sexual exploitation actors continue to target adult and underage victims by illegally accessing their social media accounts to steal their explicit content and post it for sale on criminal marketplaces.
Key tips to protect yourself:
▶️ Avoid storing sensitive images or videos on social media platforms.
▶️ Use unique passphrases and multi-factor authentication and avoid using password information that is directly associated with your identity.
▶️ Be cautious with embedded links in emails and texts—verify sender and purpose before clicking—and treat unrequested temporary passwords, PIN resets, or access codes as suspicious.
