April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. The library has partnered with the Children's Board of Hillsborough County to bring awareness of the importance of providing safe and secure environments for children by creating pinwheel gardens outside our library branches throughout the county. On this day in 1964, the North Tampa Branch Library opened to the public! This branch originally began providing library services in a 3,500 sq-ft building at 8916 North Boulevard. This circa 1990s photograph depicts the branch after it had expanded to a 10,500 sq-ft footprint but before it was replaced with a new 24,000 sq-ft building in 2009.

Colorful paper, scissors, glue, and motivational designs were used in our recent decoupage program at the North Tampa Branch Library where several coasters were made using this method of artistic decorating.
