George Edgecomb Bar Association Tampa's largest predominately African-American voluntary bar association. Founded in 1982, in memory of the late Honorable George E.

Edgecomb, the George Edgecomb Bar Association is dedicated to the promotion and recognition of African Americans within the legal profession and the judiciary. Today, the Association’s 300 members strive to maintain the ideals and principles George E. Edgecomb embodied during his brief but productive life.

GEBA was well represented at this year’s Hillsborough County NAACP Freedom Fund Dinner.

Members of the George Edgecomb Bar Association Board came together for an evening centered on community, leadership, service, and recognition of individuals making a difference throughout Hillsborough County.

The Freedom Fund Dinner is an important annual gathering that brings together leaders from across our community while recognizing those whose work and service continue to have an impact.

For GEBA, being present at events like this reflects an important part of our mission. Our work extends beyond the courtroom and the legal profession. It includes building relationships, supporting community organizations, and remaining engaged in the issues and institutions that affect the communities we serve.

September is National Recovery Month and National Su***de Prevention Month, making this an important time to raise awareness, encourage meaningful conversations, and connect our community with information and resources surrounding mental health, substance use, and recovery.

The George Edgecomb Bar Association’s September program features Attorney Mark Astor, whose practice focuses on behavioral health law, for an important discussion on Florida’s legal tools for substance use and mental health crises.

đź“š For the Community: Watch this FREE General Legal Education (GLE) program to learn more about the legal tools and resources available to individuals and families navigating mental health and substance use crises.

Congratulations to Kamilah Perry on her recent election to the 9th Judicial Circuit Court Bench!

Kamilah Perry has served as Past President of the George Edgecomb Bar Association and the Virgil Hawkins Florida Chapter of the National Bar Association. Her father is former Florida Supreme Court Justice James. E.C. Perry. She is currently the Executive Director and General Counsel of the State Attorney's Office, Ninth Circuit, and owner of the Perry Law Group, LLC.
