Get your tickets for the VGHS Homecoming Dance! Hosted by the one and only VGHS Student Government, it’s going to be an awesome time. Dance goes from 6:30-9:00 Vista Grande High School

THEME: Halloween! Rick your best costume and come dance the like your jack-o’-lantern 🎃 depended on it. No tricks, all treats!

VGHS will be on an ‘Early Dismissal’ schedule for Friday, with students released at 1:35. REMINDER: You have to attend school in order to attend the dance (Homebound Placement, UNM Taos, and/or paid Work-Based Learning count as attendance).

Special shoutout to Taos Public Library for swinging in and getting our students connected with library cards! Our English classes will be swinging over to the Library, next week, to connect students with all of the great resources our awesome Library and librarians have to offer! And, a shoutout to unmtaos for their support with our MC3 class. Our students were able to make it over to Klauer campus and do some work in the shop with UNM Taos staff, helping build our co****le boards.

Not to be outdone, but huge shoutout to Taos ReStore for their upcoming MC3 Friday support, as well as True Kids 1 and Taos Land Trust for their awesome work-based learning opportunities. And, who could forget Field Institute of Taos with their support tomorrow with our 9th grade PE class. Oh yah, can’t forget Rocky Mountain Youth Corps and their support with the Youth Coalition. Or Futuros Ancestral with helping us build an horno and roast up some corn. So much goodness in our community, thank you to all of our community organizations that supports Vista Grande High School

Come one, come all for some awesome work to connect with the land and the good folks unmtaos and plant some trees. The GOAL: Working to reforest the El Valley burn scar.

WHEN: Saturday, Oct 31st (Halloween morning)
DEETS: Lunch will be provided and costumes are encouraged. Any VGHS student that attends will be eligible to receive EXTRA CREDIT for some class work!

It was a beautiful day to get out for some Place-Based Experiential Learning! Students put in some sweat equity to gather specific wood for the VGHS Horno. Students also learned a bit more about our local ecology as well as the history of burning specific wood in the Horno. A great time was had, the weather was perfect, and VGHS is set for wood for quite some time… 🔥🔥

Special shoutout to our friends and community partner Friends of Rio Grande del Norte National Monument for setting up this learning experience with Bureau of Land Management - New Mexico as well as to Futuros Ancestral for future horno firings!

Our 2nd Annual Fall Festival was a hit! Special shout out to our students and staff who made it all possible, as well as to the community partners who joined in the fun! Taos International School, Bridges Project Field Institute of Taos Futuros Ancestral You Can Do It Mija True Kids 1 unmtaos

This year we really highlighted our Career and Technical Education classes: MC3, Regenerative Agriculture, and Culinary. These hands-on classes get our students fired up, as they really see the work product they’re part of producing. The co****le boards: made by VGHS students. The apple c***r, apple chips and greens: grown by VGHS students. The horno utilized to roast the corn for elote: built by VGHS students. All of this is possible due to our students, staff, families and wonderful community partners. Thank you!!

This Friday, VGHS students need to come ready to rock and roll as we head North to Wild Rivers Recreation Area to collaborate with Friends of Rio Grande del Norte National Monument and the Bureau of Land Management - New Mexico to gather wood to utilize in our school horno. This will be a PBEL experience that is heavy in sweat equity.

STUDENTS: wear shoes and clothes you can get a little muddy in. Leave your new pairs of Jordans at home so ya don’t get them scuffed 🎃🎃

Seniors, it’s time for VGHS’s Annual FAFSA Night! This Tuesday Vista Grande High School from 5:30-6:30, VGHS will be working with the awesome Bridges Project to support our Seniors in completing their FAFSA applications. Pizza and soda will be provided for students and families. Let’s crush it out and have a great time getting those applications completed!

We’re always stoked to collaborate with Futuros Ancestral and Kevin Tsosie 🔥🌈🔥🌈. Today, students were able to go and collect local chamisa that were in bloom and learn how to utilize this plant in creating a dye that can be utilized with local wool. Such a rad experience, and we’re excited for Part 2 on Wednesday.
