Please have a heightened awareness of you activities that could cause open fires

Fall brings cooler temperatures and colorful fall foliage, but it also brings an increased risk of wildfires due to dry conditions, low humidity and fallen leaves, which act as a ready fuel source.

Now through Nov. 30, use extra caution with any potential ignition sources, especially outdoor fires. Additional guidance on how you can stay safe this fire season can be found on our website: https://ow.ly/Xxah50ZXZ4w

TEVFD is excited to partner with the Rappahannock River Regional Rehab group that will be supporting our first responders (Law Enforcement, Fire, EMS, and Special Operations) across the Northern Neck and Upper Peninsula. This group will focus on supporting on scene responses in areas of
- Environmental Protection
- Nutrition/Hydration
- Cancer Prevention/Decon

Membership of this group will be coordinated with senior members of public safety to include training on equipment and scene management.

We have received a donation from Ashland VRS of a trailer and initial supplies and equipment. Joint operations with Richmond County and Essex County Emergency Services will continue as other localities are working through local policies to join on.

Our team is made up entirely of trained local volunteers, everyday citizens who don't fight fires or wear badges, but who possess a deep commitment to public safety. We deploy directly to emergency staging areas, working side-by-side with local agiencies.

Over the weekend, firefighters from TEVFD, Essex EMS, and Sparta VFD were able to meet up and work on rural water supply and joint operations training. These opportunities are extremely valuable for neighboring departments as we may be assisting each other on emergencies. Thank you to FDP for use of their facility.

To thank our members for their hard work at our street dance, we decided to order fried chicken and sides from Jamie Segar at Sunnyside Grocery. Their food never disappoints! To make it even better, when we asked for the bill, Jamie said no charge and thanked us for what we do for the community. Thank you Jamie! You can’t beat a great family that runs a great locally owned business!

We would like to thank the 500+ people that came out to our Boots Bash on Saturday featuring the HonkyTonk Heroes. Faron Hamblin and the guys brought their A game and it was a great night of music, dancing, food and fun! There are several groups we would like to give a shout out to for their help. First up is the newly formed Tom Whittaker FOE #4555 (Tappahannock Eagles). The Eagles provided, cooked, and sold the food at the event, covering all costs and donating 100% back to TEVFD. Other groups providing assistance were: Tappahannock Rotary Club, Tidewater Lumber Corporation, Essex County Sheriff's Office, Essex County VA, Essex County Emergency Services , and Town of Tappahannock, VA. We also had a group of individuals that assisted with many tasks at the event and we are grateful for their help. Most of all, THANK YOU to everyone who came out and supported our event. We can’t wait to see you at the next one!
