🚨🚒 BREAKING NEWS FROM NATIONAL NIGHT OUT! 🚓🚑🏆
The competition was FIERCE as Edgecombe County Emergency Services, Tarboro Police Department, and Tarboro Fire Department went head-to-head in an epic race to the top of the rock wall! 🧗‍♂️💪
Now, we know there's been some debate about who actually won… 👀😂

And while we unfortunately did NOT capture Officer McGrath finishing FIRST at the top, we CAN confirm that he was THE FIRST ONE ON THE WAY DOWN! 💨🤣

For those who don't know, Officer McGrath is a former firefighter who traded his fire hose for a badge. 🚒➡️🚓
Apparently, the Fire Department forgot to teach him that you're supposed to make it ALL THE WAY to the top before coming back down! 😂🔥

We're not saying the Police Department won… but we ARE saying McGrath set a new record for the fastest descent! 🏆🤣

All jokes aside, we had an absolute blast competing with our brothers and sisters from Edgecombe County Emergency Services and Tarboro Fire Department at National Night Out! Town of Tarboro Tarboro Fire Department Edgecombe County, NC

Earlier today, the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office advised Edgecombe County Public Schools to go into Secure Lockdown Status because of a report they received from a community member regarding a potential threat at a school. No specific school was identified in the threat. All of our schools immediately went into Secure Lockdown Status, and we informed parents by phone and various communication channels. School continued as usual inside buildings.

Later in the afternoon, the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office advised that ECPS could lift the Secure Lockdown Status and return to normal operating procedures. The Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office deemed the threat as "not credible" to Edgecombe County Public Schools.

As always, we appreciate the support of staff, students, parents, and the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office as we worked through the situation this afternoon. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused today, but safety is our top priority, and we must take all security concerns seriously.

***UPDATE***

While the investigation is still ongoing, there is not believed to be a credible threat to any ECPS schools.

School Lockdowns

A citizen received a non-specific threat to a school via text this morning. It didn't mention any specifics.

Working with Edgecombe County Public Schools, we have placed all schools on soft lock down for today. Deputies will be on scene and there will be increased patrols around schools.

Meanwhile, our detectives are working to identify the individual who made the threats. Once identified, they will be charged.

👮‍♂️💚 A special visit to one of our local preschools!

Today, Officer Harrell stopped by to celebrate Police Officer Day with some of our youngest community members! From answering their thoughtful questions to sharing a few laughs, it was a great time getting to spend the morning with them.

Thank you for inviting Officer Harrell to be part of your special day and for giving him the opportunity to connect with our future Tarboro community members! 💚
