THANKSGIVING GIVEWAY: For the third straight year, New Hope Assembly of God Church (1400 Racho Road at Superior) will be the site of a Thanksgiving-related giveaway of turkeys and grocery items. The giveaway will take place from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, November 21, in the church’s parking lot. There are no pre-orders or multiple orders, just one per vehicle while the supply lasts. 🚨 SCAM ALERT – TAYLOR POLICE DEPARTMENT 🚨

The Taylor Police Department has recently received an increased number of reports involving fraudulent phone calls from individuals impersonating Taylor police officers.

During these calls, scammers claim that the recipient owes fines for traffic citations and demand payment over the phone.

⚠️ PLEASE BE ADVISED:
The Taylor Police Department will NEVER contact you by phone to collect payment for traffic citations or demand payment over the phone.

If you receive one of these calls:
DO NOT provide personal or financial information.
DO NOT make any payments over the phone.
HANG UP immediately.
DO NOT rely on caller ID, as scammers can disguise their phone numbers to appear legitimate.

If you are unsure whether a call is legitimate, contact the Taylor Police Department directly at 734-287-6611.

We encourage residents to remain vigilant and share this information with family, friends, and neighbors, especially those who may be more vulnerable to phone scams.

Remember: These calls are fraudulent and are NOT being made by the Taylor Police Department.

UPDATE – SUSPECT IN CUSTODY

The Taylor Police Department would like to inform the public that 19-year-old Joeseph Garcia, who was identified as a suspect in the October 10, 2026, shooting near Pardee Road and Wick Road, has been taken into custody.

There is no longer a need for the public to
assist in locating this individual.

We would like to sincerely thank the community for its assistance, cooperation, and willingness to share information during this investigation.

The Taylor Police Detective Bureau continues to investigate this incident.

Press Release CFS: 26-44395

On October 10, 2026, at approximately 4:12 a.m., Taylor 911 received a report of two individuals who had been shot near the intersection of Pardee Road and Wick Road.
Taylor Police officers responded to the scene and located two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Responding officers immediately began administering aid to the victims. Both victims were transported to a local hospital by the Taylor Fire Department and are currently listed in stable condition.

The Taylor Police Detective Bureau is investigating the incident and has identified 19-year-old Joeseph Garcia of Taylor as a suspect. The suspect fled the scene on foot before officers arrived and is believed to be armed with a handgun. Joeseph Garcia is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs approximately 135 pounds.

Anyone with information regarding Joeseph Garcia’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Taylor Police Department at 734-287-6611. Do not approach the suspect if located, as he may be armed.

At this time, officers are working to locate their parent or guardian.

There has been some misinformation circulating regarding the temporary No Parking signs posted in neighborhoods for the Telegraph Cruise.

To clarify:

The signs are official and were placed by the Taylor Police Department.

These temporary parking restrictions are implemented to maintain public safety, keep roadways clear, and ensure emergency vehicles can access neighborhoods during one of the region's largest events.

We use similar parking restrictions during other large community events, including the Taylor Summer Festival.

If a vehicle is towed for violating the temporary parking restrictions, it is handled by J&T Crova—not Area Towing.

Claims that the City or the Taylor Police Department receive kickbacks or have a financial incentive to tow vehicles are false.

We understand these temporary restrictions can be inconvenient, but they are put in place solely to help keep residents, visitors, and first responders safe.

We encourage everyone to verify information before sharing it.

False allegations can unfairly damage the reputations of local businesses, public employees, and others in our community.

Thank you for your cooperation as we work to make the Telegraph Cruise a safe and enjoyable event for everyone.
