Texting is the easiest and most convenient way to let Southern Pine Electric know that your power is out. The same number you rely on to call is the same number you text to report outages – 800-231-5240.
Save 800-231-5240 in your contacts to use to report outages in the future. When you use this option, there is no waiting or busy signals. This number allows members to quickly call or text an outage – provided their mobile number is in our system associated with their account.

For Status Updates: Text STATUS to 800-231-5240

To Un-enroll: Text the word QUIT to 800-231-5240

Any member that does not want to remain enrolled should simply text QUIT to 800-231-5240 , to opt-out. Once opted out, you will not receive SPE outage or emergency-related information through texts. The only way your mobile number can be opted back in is for you to text JOIN from the mobile phone to the number.

IMPORTANT
For any of our outage reporting systems to work for you, your mobile number must be in our database associated with your account. If your number has changed, and you have not updated it with us, please visit your My Power account to quickly and easily update it. If you do not have a My Power account, visit www.southernpine.coop or call 800-231-5240 to update your information.

Reusing the same password everywhere makes it easy for scammers to gain access to your accounts. Turn on two-factor authentication (2FA) wherever you can. You can also use a passkey if the site offers one. This allows you to sign in with Face ID or your fingerprint instead of typing a password. Take the time to clean up old accounts, and give them a unique password and use 2FA.

Whether your family is hanging decorations or trimming trees, always look up and check for overhead power lines before setting up ladders. Keep an eye out for tree branches growing into or touching power lines too. Maintain a 10-foot distance from all lines and keep your whole pack safe.

Your home router is the front door to every device you own. When setting up your router for the first time, pick a strong password. From there, only let devices you trust onto your main internet network. For visitors, smart gadgets, or anything you are not fully sure about, use your Guest Wi-Fi instead. The nice thing about a Guest network is that you can turn it off or change its password anytime without kicking any of your own devices offline.

Did you know members can conveniently pay their Southern Pine Electric bills with cash where they shop? Simply show the barcode on the back of your bill at any participating location and tell the cashier how much you want to pay.

Only cash payments can be made at these locations. A convenience fee of $1.50 will be charged by the store.

As a cold front arrives today, gusty gradient winds will develop areawide. Weak trees and limbs may break and fall due to sustained winds of 20 to 25 mph and wind gusts of 30 to 35 mph. High profile vehicles could also be affected.
