Taylorville,
We can not stress this enough. When a crossing guard is in a crosswalk, you MUST stop. That does not mean drive in front of or behind them. You will get pulled over, you will get a ticket, and you will have to go to court. We had multiple people disobey today and at this rate our officers can not keep up with the volume of people who are putting everyone in the crosswalk in jeopardy.

Wait the extra 60 seconds and save yourself a couple hundred dollars, missing work for court, and keep our crossing guard and kids safe.

Taylorville, Halloween is upon us! 🎃👻🍬

Just a few reminders about the week ahead of us:

•This Wednesday, October 28th, join us for our Monster Bash with TPD and TFD from 4:30pm to 6:30pm!

•This weekend on October 30th & 31st, we will have our city wide trick or treating from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.

REMINDERS ‼️‼️‼️

If your porch light is on, trick-or-treaters will appear! If you are participating in passing out candy, remember to turn on that light! If you are not participating, please keep your light off during the trick or treating hours.

Drivers, please slow down, watch for children, and pay extra attention in neighborhoods! We all know how exciting trick or treating can be, and some kiddos may not be watching for traffic.

Parents, while your children are trick or treating, please keep an eye on your little ones, use sidewalks when available, and carry a flashlight, or wear something reflective. When you get home, make sure to inspect the treats your children received before letting them dig in!

Most importantly, have fun, look out for your neighbors, and help make this a safe Halloween for everyone!

From all of us at TPD, we hope you have a spooktacular Halloween! 🖤🎃

Hey Taylorville,

We are trying something new this morning. Warren the Crossing Guard is dressed as a traffic cone. We are hoping this will make people pay more attention to him in the crosswalk, as the high vis vest and stop sign have not gotten people to stop when he's crossing kids and has had way too many near misses on being hit.

‼️Slow down
📵 Stay off your phones
👀 Keep eyes on the road
🛑STOP when the crossing guard is in the cross walk.

The Taylorville Police Department recently investigated a reported incident involving a male and a minor at the Christian County YMCA.

As a result of the investigation, Shane Ross, 37, of Taylorville, was arrested and charged with Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child Under 13 Years of Age. The subject has been detained by the courts. The courts stated that he is a clear and present danger to our city.

The national office of the YMCA organization sent out a release and has expressed that the safety, protection, and well-being of children remain its highest priorities. YMCA officials stated they are deeply troubled by the reported incident involving now-former members in a family restroom and will continue cooperating with law enforcement throughout the investigation.

The Taylorville Police Department would like to thank Christian County State's Attorney John McWard for his assistance and commitment to this investigation, including the review and approval of criminal charges.

The Taylorville Police Department remains committed to protecting children and ensuring that allegations of this nature are thoroughly investigated.

All individuals charged with a criminal offense are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Great job by K9 Officer Troy Kissel and the Taylorville Police Department team for the arrest of Pamela Rozplochowski, 40, of Taylorville, for alleged possession of methamphetamine.

Rozplochowski is currently on pretrial release for a separate methamphetamine delivery charge. Our department’s intelligence has raised concerns regarding her compliance with the conditions of release and her continued suspected involvement in illegal drug activity.

While everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty, we hope the courts take these repeated allegations seriously and prioritize public safety.
