Claiborne County Schools joins Soldiers Memorial Middle School and the entire Claiborne County community in mourning the loss of Mr. Barry Liles.

Mr. Liles dedicated his career to serving students, supporting families, and making a positive difference in the lives of those around him. Whether in the classroom, throughout the school, on the field, or in the community, he was known for his compassion, and unwavering commitment to helping others succeed.

Having recently retired in May, Mr. Liles leaves behind a legacy that will continue to impact generations of students. The lessons he taught, the encouragement he shared, and the relationships he built will not be forgotten.

Soldiers Memorial Middle School is deeply saddened by the passing of our friend, teacher, and mentor, Mr. Barry Liles. He made a lasting impact on countless students both inside and outside the classroom. His kind heart, warm smile, and encouraging words touched everyone who knew him.

Having recently retired in May, Mr. Liles leaves behind a legacy of dedication, service, and care that will never be forgotten. The influence he had on our school, our students, and the Claiborne County community will continue to be felt for years to come.
Our hearts are broken as we mourn this tremendous loss. We extend our deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers to his grandson, Andy, a student at SMMS, and to the entire Liles family during this difficult time.

Congratulations to Lexus Ayers!

Claiborne County Schools is proud to celebrate an incredible achievement by Cumberland Gap High School senior Lexus Ayers. Lexus completed the required training and clinical experience necessary to become Cumberland Gap High School’s first Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

Her exam results are in, and we are excited to officially announce Lexus Ayers, CNA!

Congratulations, Lexus! We are so proud of your hard work, dedication, and commitment to serving others. We can’t wait to see all that you accomplish in the future.
