Attempted traffic stop nets drugs and wanted fugitive.

On Sunday May 10, 2026 Sgt. Dylan Browning of the Tazewell Police Department attempted a traffic stop on U.S. Hwy. 25e at Indfas Supply on a Isuzu SUV after the tag displayed came back on a Buick vehicle and had expired 01/2025. The driver failed to stop and did an immediate U-turn back southbound driving erratically through the center turn lane toward oncoming traffic. The vehicle did an immediate left turn into Hilltop Carwash and through the wash bay where the driver jumped from the vehicle sending it over an embankment and into a tree. Sgt. Browning gave foot chase and was assisted by Ptl. Hunter Holt where they secured the individual later identified as William E. Turner of Harrison, Tennessee. Mr. Turner was found to be wanted by the United States Marshals Service for violating parole, and Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office for Aggravated Assault, Mr. Turner was also found in possession of approximately 5.79 grams of suspected methamphetamine and needles. Mr. Turner was taken into custody without further incident.
