Sometimes, a small idea can make a big difference. đź’™
Patricia Uzzalino, an Intensive Care Unit Nurse at Holy Name Medical Center, was recently recognized as a Caught Being Awesome awardee for finding a simple way to make birthdays in the ICU a little more special.
Knowing that some patients may spend their birthday away from loved ones, Patricia suggested keeping birthday cards in the unit so staff could add a personal note and help celebrate with them.
It may be a small gesture, but for a patient going through a difficult time, it can mean so much: a reminder that they are seen, valued and cared for.
Patricia’s thoughtfulness is exactly what Caught Being Awesome is all about, celebrating the everyday acts of kindness, compassion, teamwork and service that make a difference to our patients, visitors and one another.
