Sheriff Lyon attended a presentation at the NioCorp Developments, Elk Creek Critical Minerals Project mine site with several Nebraska State Senators, company representatives, local representatives and local media.

The mine continues the big dig to get down to what they're calling "the portal", the place where the mine will dive into the bedrock. Company CEO Mark Smith addressed the guests. There was a tour of the dig sight and the 15% grade ramp to the bottom where digging continues even after the soaking rains of the past several days.

We know that Aaron is a tapestry of color when it comes to his hat selection, so it comes as no surprise that JCC art students help him colorize his face too. Congrats Thunderbirds!

Thank you Deputy Turner for showing up and supporting our Art Club at the football game tonight! The Thunderbirds get 60-32 victory over the Fairbury Jeffs!

Remember that 25 years ago, people who wanted to destroy our way of life flew airliners into buildings. Our FDNY firefighters showed that freedom is resilient......so are those who still hate the United States of American and all it stands for. Please never forget.

Street destruction in front of the Johnson County Sheriff's Office has begun. Within the next couple of days, there will be no vehicle access to the front of our building for the next few weeks. Please park north on 4th Street or west on Clay Street. Our sidewalk to the office should be accessible from the north. I've instructed our deputies that no matter how much fun it is to off-road, they are to stay out of the construction zone.

When dropping off or picking up kids at Johnson County Central Public Schools, and especially in front of the elementary, please don't block the crosswalks or hold up the traffic on 6th St while kids jump out and run. Some parents who were walking kids in the rain had to navigate around cars blocking crosswalks. Also, even though it was light out, the heavy rain makes using headlights imperative.
