Join University Sustainability Practices in partnership with Salt River Project and Move For Hunger for the ASU Earth Day Walk. The walk includes a 1.5 mile (symbolizing the urgent need to limit global warming to 1.5 C) or 3 mile option (symbolizes the pillars of sustainability: environmental, economic and social) depending on preference, but that’s not all!

🌎The student org that brings the most participants to the walk and the student org that brings the most unopened, nonperishable food items to the food drive will each receive $250 through Move for Hunger!

👕The first 200 participants will receive an Earth Day Every Day T-shirt or bandana!

🍌Light snacks will be provided, but please be sure to bring a reusable bottle for water!

🤝Giveaways, learning and games on the Coca Cola Sun Deck at the sustainability partner tabling fair!

Discussion topics include campus sustainability practices and culture, ASU sustainability goals and community action.

Our friends at the ASU Staff Council Sustainability Program Team are excited to share a new event -- the "Love our Planet" Bus Crawl throughout the month of February! 🌎

The crawl gives you, your friends, colleagues, family and even pets access to discounts at local businesses when you visit via public transportation! A map with participating donations will be provided upon signup. 🗺️

ASU Staff Council is also having weekly scheduled outings where you can go in community and mingle with other sustainability-minded colleagues!

Don't fret if you've never taken public transportation before or are unfamiliar with Valley Metro! Participants will receive helpful guides that make it easy to access transit even for first-timers. 🚌

Kick the K-Cups and go reusable! 🌱

To show the value of ditching single-use K-Cups, the University Services Building on ASU's Tempe campus tested a switch to reusable K-Cups. This move reduced plastic waste and operating expenses, with reusable K-Cups (and the coffee beans to fill them) costing approximately $0.36 per serving, compared to the $1.40 per serving cost for single-use K-Cups. More importantly the USB building went from disposing of 4,660 single-use K-Cups in the previous year to zero! ☕
