Trump campaigned on a promise to end the “Forever Wars,” yet here he is plunging headfirst into a catastrophic conflict for U.S. imperialism in Iran.

In the short term, we’re already seeing gas prices skyrocket. In the long term, this path threatens a devastating global recession. But we have to ask the deeper questions: Why is this happening? And how can the working class end it once and for all?

US Imperialism is retrenching its power over what it calls “its backyard.” In other words, Latin America. The kidnapping of Maduro and the bombing of Venezuela is part of a larger plan to secure resources (in Venezuela, oil) and fight back the growing influence of Chinese Imperialism for its own gain. It is not about drug trafficking, nor is it about “democracy.” Hands off Venezuela! Down with US Imperialism!

This was a weekend full of activity for the Phoenix communists! We hosted a screening of the new documentary from that details the crisis of capitalism and why it’s so urgent we build revolutionary communist parties all over the world!

Then we setup a table at .phx to talk with workers who want genuine answers to their worsening living conditions. It’s never been a better time to get organized to overthrow capitalism, and create a better world for all of humanity.

The Phoenix Communists have been out in full force for our fall offensive. We’ve been talking to people about the dead end of capitalism, and how we fight back. The youth especially are feeling the crisis as 40% of recent college graduates aren’t in a job that utilizes their degree. All while tuition at universities like ASU continue to get ever more expensive.

A new poll from the right-wing Cato Institute reveals that 62% of 18-29 year olds have a "favorable view" of socialism, while 34% have a "favorable view" of communism. And it completely makes sense, what future does capitalism have to offer them? An 18-year-old right now was born in 2007. Their whole life has been shaped by crisis—by the Great Recession, endless wars, climate disasters, genocides, and now the threat of AI wiping out jobs before they even graduate.
