This year, we wanted our students to take greater ownership of their learning by setting meaningful goals, monitoring their own progress, and reflecting on the growth they experience.

We also recognized the importance of helping students become more organized and intentional about planning. Look at this responsible group of 6th graders in Mrs. Elizabeth Cancel-Ortiz Read’s class putting their Student Planners to work!

Each day, students have the opportunity to record what they are learning in each class, keep track of homework, and stay organized. These may seem like simple skills, but they are important steps toward helping students become independent, responsible learners.

We offer morning tutorials, an 18-minute Enrichment time and a 30-minute WIN Time each day to build our students skills, provide intervention, extend their learning, and/or provide study hall time as support.

Our goal is to build students who don’t just know what they are learning, but know how to manage their learning.
