We have another exciting promotion to celebrate at Moffat Volunteer Fire Department!

Please join us in congratulating Lieutenant Tamara Hedberg on her recent promotion to Captain, where she will now lead our department’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) branch! 👏

After successfully completing EMT school earlier this year and earning her National Registry EMT certification, Tamara has continued pursuing her passion for emergency medicine and serving others. Now working two jobs as an EMT, she brings valuable hands-on experience, dedication, and a genuine commitment to caring for members of our community.

With her leadership experience, enthusiasm for emergency medical services, and desire to continue learning and growing, having Tamara take the lead of our EMS program was a natural next step.

“I’m very grateful for this leadership opportunity and being able to work and grow with our department’s Paramedics and EMTs,” stated CPT Hedberg.

As Captain, Tamara will help guide and strengthen our EMS program, working alongside our dedicated medical personnel to ensure we continue providing quality emergency care to those we serve.

We are proud of Tamara’s accomplishments and look forward to seeing the positive impact she will make in this new leadership role.

The community of Cameron, Buckholts Fire Department, and the Fuentes Family are in our thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.

Funeral for Firefighter and Educator RJ Fuentes of Cameron, Texas and Buckholts Fire Department, a beloved and respected young man whose commitment to serving others extended beyond the fire service and into the classroom will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at St.
Monica Catholic Church, located at 306 S. Nolan Street in Cameron, Texas.

Fire departments and emergency service agencies wishing to participate in the procession honoring Firefighter Fuentes are asked to assemble at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home, located at 2800 N. Travis Avenue in Cameron, Texas, no later than 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. This gathering will allow for the coordination and organization necessary to ensure a respectful and dignified procession in his honor.
Participating departments are respectfully asked to arrive on time and follow all coordination instructions to ensure the procession proceeds safely and in an orderly manner.

The loss of a fellow firefighter is deeply felt throughout the fire service, where a shared commitment to protecting others creates a bond that extends far beyond department lines. RJ Fuentes represented the spirit of service through his dedication to his community, his work as an educator, and his commitment as a firefighter. His impact on the lives of those he served, taught, and worked alongside will not be forgotten.
As we come together to honor RJ's life and legacy, we invite our fellow firefighters, first responders, and emergency service partners to stand united in support of his family, friends, colleagues, and the Buckholts Fire Department during this time of profound loss.

Our thoughts and prayers remain with the Fuentes family and all who are grieving the loss of this remarkable young man. May they find comfort in the love and support of their community and in the lasting legacy RJ leaves behind through a life dedicated to serving others.

The United States Honor Flag and The Honor Network extend our deepest condolences following the tragic line-of-duty death of Firefighter Rick Joseph Fuentes.

Firefighter Fuentes lost his life when the fire apparatus he was operating left the roadway and overturned on FM 437 near Holland, Texas, while responding to a vehicle and grass fire.

At just 26 years old, Firefighter Fuentes made the ultimate sacrifice while answering the call to serve his community.

We stand with the Buckholts Volunteer Fire Department, his family, fellow firefighters, and the entire Milam County community during this difficult time.

His service will not be forgotten. His sacrifice will always be honored.

Rest easy, Firefighter Fuentes. We have the watch from here.

The rain may be receding, but the water run-off will continue for hours or even days. Moffat VFD urges everyone to exercise caution if you encounter water over a road.

⚠️Turn around, don’t drown! ⛔️

This picture is of a road in Moffat VFD’s district (area of response). No doubt there are more roads in this same condition. Once the waters recede, be aware of debris that may be left on the roads.

Plan for alternate routes in case you come across a road covered in water and debris.
