📞🚨 Learning That Could Make a Difference!

Mrs. Hall took on the challenge of teaching Mrs. Masters’ and Mrs. Beckwell’s classes all about 9-1-1 safety! Our students learned important skills about when and how to call 9-1-1 and what information to provide in an emergency.

As part of their learning, our students were challenged to create artwork demonstrating what they learned and submit their work to the CTCOG 9-1-1 Kids Create project. http://www.ctcog.org/9-1-1-kids-create/

We are so proud of our Colts for taking on this important learning challenge, showing their creativity, and demonstrating that even our youngest learners can be prepared to help in an emergency!

Our 4th and 5th grade math teachers are diving into Bluebonnet learning today with our math coach, Julie.

Did you know that each of our teachers actually take time to take the end of unit assessment along with each daily exit ticket and problem set?? This allows our teachers to know the exact cognitive load that’s expected of our students each day.

💙📚 Dyslexia Awareness Day! 📚💙

Today, we celebrate our incredible students with dyslexia and the unique strengths, talents, and perspectives they bring to our school community!

Dyslexia is not a measure of intelligence—it simply means the brain processes language and reading differently. When we provide the right support, encouragement, and opportunities, our students can THRIVE!

At High Point Elementary, we believe every learner deserves to feel seen, supported, capable, and celebrated. We will continue to build classrooms where students know that their differences are strengths and that there is more than one way to learn, grow, and succeed. ❤️

👻 Who knew tracking an object to catch could be SO much fun?!

Today’s learning turned into a full-on ghost-catching adventure! Our little learners used a leaf blower to send the “ghosts” flying through the air, then practiced tracking the object with their eyes, moving their bodies, and catching it! 👀🙌

It may have looked like pure fun (and there was PLENTY of laughter!), but our Colts were actually building important visual tracking, hand-eye coordination, motor skills, focus, and reaction time along the way. 🎯

Learning doesn’t always have to look like sitting at a desk! Sometimes the best learning happens when kids are moving, laughing, playing, and having a little fun along the way.💙👻

There is SO much incredible work happening throughout our building, and we love taking time to celebrate the people who make High Point special!
