Tenino School District Our city is rich in history, with the first settler to arrive in 1849. We’re a close-knit community that supports quality education.

Tenino, Washington, population 1,900, is a bedroom community located 26 minutes south of Olympia and about an hour and a half west of Mount Rainier National Park. Our rural District consists of two elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. The faculty and staff at all of our school sites are excellent motivators, who encourage and educate their students with enthusiasm. We have high expectations for our students, and they have always risen to the challenge. We truly believe that Tenino School District is a great place to learn and grow.

October is , and we want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible leaders guiding our schools! 🍎✨

In our district, we are incredibly fortunate to have 6 extraordinary administrators who bring a combined 166 years of educational experience to our community. That’s 166 years of supporting teachers, inspiring students, solving complex challenges, and building safe, thriving learning environments every single day. 📚💙

Mr. Williams, Mrs. Van De Wege, Mr. Hodgson, Mr. Hyder, Mrs. Schiferl, and Mrs. Houk -- Thank you for your wisdom, tireless dedication, and unwavering commitment to our students' success. We appreciate all that you do!

Join Us in Honoring Hoquiam Football History!

The City of Hoquiam invites our community to a special ceremony at Olympic Stadium honoring former Hoquiam Coach Jack Swarthout and former quarterback Jack Elway prior to kickoff of the Grizzlies’ Senior Night game against Tenino this Friday. The ceremony will begin promptly at 6:30 pm. The National Anthem will be performed by Jack Swarthout's daughter, Sandi Swarthout.

Swarthout and Elway helped develop concepts behind the modern spread offense while playing and coaching at Olympic Stadium in the late 1940s. Their innovative work continues to influence college and professional football today and is detailed in Bart Wright’s book Football Revolution. For more details see the story published in the Daily World found here: https://www.thedailyworld.com/2026/10/12/hoquiams-olympic-stadium-to-celebrate-the-birthplace-of-the-football-revolution/

Members of the Swarthout and Elway families will be in attendance as we celebrate their legacy and Olympic Stadium’s special place in football history.

Fans, alumni, former players, and community members are encouraged to join us for this memorable tribute. Go Grizzlies!
