🌟 Caught in the Spotlight 🌟

The Buster Cole Unit recognizes Officer N. Daramola for this Caught in the Spotlight Award!

It has taken some time to catch up to Officer Daramola’s outstanding efforts—only because he is always moving quickly and staying ahead of the workload.
In early August, Officer Daramola’s performance was brought to the Administration’s attention for his exceptional work in the Restrictive Housing Unit at the Buster Cole Unit. While consistently meeting the expectations of his position, he was also asked to es**rt inmates to Property for distribution approximately ten minutes before shift change. Although the request was made primarily so the oncoming shift could address the task promptly, Officer Daramola responded with initiative and determination.
Within minutes, he began es**rting the first inmate to Property, ensuring the office could make meaningful progress before the end of the shift. The remaining es**rts followed shortly thereafter, and despite the slight delay, Officer Daramola completed the task and finished his shift with dedication characteristic of his work ethic.
Officer N. Daramola exemplifies how a few extra minutes of effort can significantly improve operations and contribute to a smoother day for everyone involved. His commitment is sincerely appreciated.
Thank you, Officer Daramola.

🌟 Caught in the Spotlight 🌟

The Choice Moore Unit recognizes Senior Correctional Officer J. Patton for this Caught in the Spotlight Award!

On Saturday, August 1st, 2026, Officer Patton was attending a farmers market at the local Tractor Supply. While speaking with a manager inside the store, he heard a loud commotion. A young child had slipped while running and suffered a severe leg injury from nearby merchandise. The cut was deep enough that fatty tissue was exposed.
Without hesitation, Officer Patton ran to his truck, retrieved his emergency response bag, and immediately rendered aid while EMS was enroute. He calmly reassured the boy’s mother, treated the wound, and successfully slowed the bleeding until emergency services arrived. The child was then transported to the local hospital for further medical care.
This act of quick thinking, preparedness, and compassion exemplifies the TDCJ mission of providing public safety—both in and out of uniform. Many acts of heroism go unnoticed, but Officer Patton’s actions demonstrate exactly what it means to step up and serve whenever and wherever needed, regardless of recognition.
Thanks to Officer Patton’s swift response, a frightening situation for a young child and his family was made significantly better.
