For Tequesta Fire Captain David McGovern, the 9/11 memorial outside his station isn't just a monument—it's a sacred space. Built with actual steel beams from the World Trade Center, this peaceful memorial carries the weight of history and the memories of heroes who gave everything that day.

"Makes you proud to put on a uniform. You're one of them," McGovern reflects. "They were all heroes, every single one of them."

25 Years Later. We Remember. We Honor. We Never Forget.

Today, we gathered as a community to honor the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the lasting impact of September 11, 2001.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for our 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony — our residents, community members, retired personnel, current members, and all those who came out to stand with us in remembrance and support. Your presence means more than words can express.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to the Tequesta Police for their partnership. Events like this are a reminder of the strength that comes from our public safety family and the community we proudly serve.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember those we lost, honor those who served, and carry their stories forward.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

For the past nine days, Tequesta Fire Rescue had the incredible opportunity to utilize the Tequesta Country Club as a real-world training environment before the building’s demolition. This training provided an opportunity to train in a way that simply cannot be replicated in a classroom.

A special thank you to all of the agencies who joined us throughout the week and contributed their time, personnel, and expertise. Your participation made this training more dynamic, realistic, and valuable for everyone involved. We also want to extend our sincere appreciation to the Tequesta Country Club for allowing us access to the property and providing our crews with the space to train in real-world conditions before the building was demolished. Opportunities like this are invaluable to the safety of our firefighters and the community we serve.

Finally, thank you to the residents and surrounding community for your patience, understanding, and cooperation throughout the week. We know training of this scale can bring additional activity to the area, and we truly appreciate everyone allowing us the opportunity to train without interruption.

Training like this makes us better prepared when the call comes and seconds matter.

We’re keeping the momentum going with another day of hands-on training!

Our firefighters continued putting their skills to the test through a variety of realistic evolutions, focusing on communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and the ability to operate effectively under pressure. Every evolution brought a new challenge and another opportunity to learn, improve, and build confidence as a crew.

Training alongside our partner agencies also allows us to strengthen communication and coordination. A special thank you to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and Martin County Fire Rescue for continuing to train alongside us and contribute to these valuable lessons.

This is just another look at the work that goes on behind the scenes to keep our firefighters prepared for whatever the call may bring.

Today, Lieutenant Dodd and Firefighter/ Paramedic Schumacher had the opportunity to provide CPR, AED, and First Aid training to the teachers at Good Shepherd School!

Keeping our community safe starts with preparation and education. Teaching educators how to recognize an emergency, perform CPR, use an AED, and provide first aid gives them the confidence and skills to act quickly when seconds matter most.

Our teachers are on the front lines every day, caring for and protecting our community’s children. By working together and sharing these lifesaving skills, we can help ensure students have an added layer of protection in an emergency.

A special thank you to the Good Shepherd School teachers and staff for taking the time to train, learn, and prepare to keep their students safe. Good Shepherd Episcopal School

Training today can save a life tomorrow!
