Portions of central Indiana generally south of I-70 have been upgraded to a slight risk for severe weather this afternoon with damaging winds the primary threat. Multiple rounds of storms are possible with the severe threat likely to end later this evening from the west.

Thunderstorms are redeveloping along a southward moving outflow boundary that stretches from central Illinois into northern Indiana. This activity will push into central Indiana midday into this afternoon, posing a threat for lightning, heavy rain, and isolated wind gusts of 30-50 MPH. Take shelter if storms approach today.

Thunderstorms are expected to redevelop across portions of central Indiana, mainly north of I-70 during the mid-late afternoon. An isolated damaging wind gust will be possible with the strongest storms. In addition, there is a slight risk of flash flooding for areas north of I-70 where previous heavy rain occurred last night and earlier today.

Scattered moderate to heavy rain showers with developing thunderstorms will push eastward across eastern Illinois into western Indiana through late afternoon. Cloud to ground lightning and wind gusts to 40 mph will be possible with the strongest storms.

Thunderstorms in one or more broken lines will move E-SE across central Indiana through midnight. Some of these storms may be severe with wind gusts to 60 mph. Otherwise, locally heavy rainfall (up to 1 inch in an hour) along with cloud to ground lightning can be expected.
