📣 ANNOUNCEMENT:

The Vigo County Public Library Board has approved a new strategic plan following nearly a year of planning and community engagement.

The plan will serve as the blueprint for the Library’s goals through 2030. VCPL developed it in partnership with consulting firm Stratavise, incorporating feedback from the community. Earlier this year, almost 2,000 people took part in VCPL’s Community Survey. The results of this survey, subsequent visioning sessions, and work groups informed the Library’s development of the following four pillars:

🔵Cultivate Awareness: Expanding awareness among future and current cardholders so more people know what VCPL offers.

🔵Enhance Experiences: Creating a Library environment where patrons feel welcomed, supported, and safe.

🔵Focus Services: Ensuring VCPL’s programs, resources, partnerships, and communication reflects the needs, interests, and realities of the community.

🔵Strengthen Foundations: Supporting staff with clear expectations and promoting responsible stewardship of library resources.

“I am so excited for VCPL to work through this new strategic plan”, said Jordan Orwig, Executive Director of the Vigo County Public Library. “It was shaped by those who live and work in our community, and each part of it reflects our long-held values while bringing new goals to our VCPL team.”

The Library’s next steps include forming committees to oversee projects aligned with these four pillars, with the goal of demonstrating measurable results within the next year. VCPL also plans to host an open house for the community later this year. Additional details to come at a later date.
