BURN BAN REMINDER – C-5

C-5 would like to remind everyone that our county is still under a burn ban. We have responded to several calls involving individuals burning despite the current restrictions.

The burn ban will remain in effect until we receive significant rainfall. Please understand that it will take several days of rain to improve conditions enough for the ban to be lifted.

We ask everyone to do their part, follow the burn ban, and help keep our community safe. With current dry conditions, even a small fire can quickly get out of control.

Please don’t burn until the ban has officially been lifted!

❗️❗️Community Notice – Station 1 on Lewis Akin Road

We have located video footage showing a couple of young individuals on mini bikes doing donuts in the parking lot at our Station 1 on Lewis Akin Road. The video appears to show two young people who may live in the surrounding area. We also have footage of them riding behind the station.

We understand that the kids are out riding and having fun, and we have no issue with them enjoying their bikes. However, the gravel and maintenance required to repair and maintain our parking lot come at a cost to the fire department.

We would appreciate the opportunity to speak with the young people and their parents to discuss the situation and help prevent further damage to the property.

Parents are encouraged to contact the station at 903-831-7900 or reach out directly to the Fire Chief at 903-293-6943.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain our station and protect the resources our community depends on.

ATTENTION: To the individual doing donuts in the parking lot at Station 1 on Lewis Akin Road:

We have you on camera. We will be reviewing the footage and working to identify you. This reckless behavior will not be tolerated on our property. The video will be provided to law enforcement as part of our efforts to hold you accountable.

Think twice before putting others, property, and yourself at risk.

A post has been circulating on Facebook regarding a donation from a company or project. At this time, C-5 Fire Department has not been contacted regarding any donation from any company or project.
We want to clarify that C-5 Fire Department has not received any official communication regarding this matter. If any additional information becomes available, we will provide an update as appropriate.

Yesterday’s fire burned 35.2 acres, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service.

The fire reportedly started from someone burning and quickly got out of control.

Bowie County is still under a Burn Ban.

NO OUTDOOR BURNING IS ALLOWED!

Please take this burn ban seriously. What may start as a small, controlled fire can quickly spread and threaten homes, property, and lives.

⚠️ Important Reminder: If a fire you start gets out of control and damages someone else’s property, you may be held legally responsible for the damages.
Please do your part to protect your neighbors, our community, and our firefighters. One careless decision can have serious consequences.

Texas Forestry Helicopter is now on scene and assisting ground crews to get a handle on this fire.

C-5 Fire Department Redwater Fire Department, Red River Army Depot along with the Texas Forestry Service on a large grass fire. The fire is located off Oak Haven drive and has moved onto D & Z property. Just a reminder we are still under a burn ban.

C-5 Firefighters spent the day at Leary and Red Lick schools teaching fire prevention. It is always a fun time teaching the kids about fire safety and showing them the big red trucks.
