🔥 BURN BAN ADVISORY — BOWIE COUNTY 🔥

As we approach two months under an active Burn Ban in Bowie County, we want to remind everyone that outdoor burning is STILL prohibited.

We continue to receive calls for illegal burning and fires that have started as a result of outdoor burning. With dry conditions continuing, these fires can quickly spread and threaten homes, property, and lives. Citations are being issued!

We understand the burn ban can be an inconvenience, but it is in place for a reason — to help protect our communities and prevent unnecessary fires.

If you are unsure whether the Burn Ban is currently in effect or have questions about the rules that apply, please contact us directly before burning.

Busy weekend for Liberty-Eylau first responders.

Crews responded to illegal burns, medical emergencies, and residential fires while continuing to protect the community.

Please note: The burn ban remains in effect and is being strictly enforced. Outdoor burning is prohibited.

Reminder we are still under a burn ban. The incoming weather will increase wildfire activity and damage.

A strong cold front will usher in very dry air on Friday through the weekend with relative humidity between 25 to 40 percent and winds gusting out of the north up to 30 mph at times. A Fire Weather Watch is in effect with the threat of rapid start and spread of wildfires.

Looking Ahead: wildfire danger is expected to increase across East & Central Texas as we approach the weekend.

* Burn Bans being strictly enforced with citations.

Gusty winds behind a cold front could raise the potential for wildfires.

Now is the time to make a plan and be prepared to follow directions from local officials.

Several fire department crews in Bowie County responded to large woods and grass fires today.

These fires resulted from outdoor burning while the county was under an active burn ban. Each fire exceeded 5 acres, crossed multiple property lines, and caused damage.

Burn bans are being strictly enforced. Burning during a burn ban will result in a citation.

Always check the latest status with your local fire department or the Texas A&M Forest Service before any outdoor burning.

🛑Hwy 59 / S Kings Hwy

All traffic signals are currently not working due to a vehicle accident.

Treat intersection as a 4 way stop. 🛑

Traffic alert!

Highway 59 @ Kings Highway lights are not functioning. Car wreck took out electric box. Expect delays for a few hours.

What a day for the Liberty Eylau Fire family!

Yesterday kicked off with a special visit to Liberty-Eylau Early Childhood Center, where we got to teach our littlest neighbors all about fire safety and awareness.

Those kids were locked in and asking great questions ! future firefighters in the making!

Then we wrapped up the night at National Night Out, hanging out with the community and showing off some of the tools and equipment we use every day. We even had some spotted visitors to come out!

Huge thanks to all the local first responders who came out and made it even better!

We enjoyed getting out and connecting with the people we serve.
