Pleasant Grove Fire Department

On October 10, 2026, Pleasant Grove Fire Department along with Wake Village Fire DepartmentTexarkana Texas Fire Department and Texas A&M Forest Service responded to assist Liberty Eylau Fire Department with a trash fire that rapidly spread out of control due to extremely dry conditions.

The fire quickly escalated into a significant grass and brush fire, burning more than five acres and threatening several nearby structures. What began as a small trash fire became a dangerous situation, demonstrating how quickly fire can spread under the current conditions.

BURN BAN REMAINS IN EFFECT!

Our area continues to experience extremely dry conditions, creating a heightened risk for rapidly spreading wildfires. Even a small outdoor fire can quickly become uncontrollable, placing homes, property, residents, and emergency responders at risk.

We strongly urge everyone to comply with the current burn ban and refrain from all outdoor burning. These restrictions are in place to protect lives and property.

Contacting a local fire station directly may result in delayed response times if crews are out of the station or engaged in active calls. 911 ensures that emergency units are dispatched efficiently and without delay.

🚨 BURN BAN NOTICE 🚨

Bowie County is currently under a burn ban. All outdoor burning is prohibited.

Dry conditions are creating an increased risk for rapid fire growth and significant property damage. Even a small fire can quickly become uncontrollable.

🔥 If you see smoke or a fire, call 911 immediately. Do not assume someone else has reported it.

UPDATE: All lanes are now re-opened.
Major vehicle accident: PGFD AND C5 FD crews are currently working a major accident on highway 71 going towards ashdown, the NORTHbound lanes are completely shut down at this time, use caution in the area and AVOID it if at all possible. We will update when the road has been reopened.

Units are currently on scene for a fire allegedly ignited by an unidentified individual reportedly riding a “scooter”. This marks the third suspicious fire incident since late November within the same area of ESD3. Such behavior is unacceptable and poses potential dangers to life and property, contingent upon the weather conditions. If you witness anyone suspiciously starting fires, please request BCSO to respond with the fire department.
