CASA of Galveston County Court Appointed Special Advocates® (CASA) of Galveston County advocates for children and youth experiencing the foster care system due to abuse and neglect.

Court Appointed Special Advocates of Galveston County recruit, train, and supervise community volunteers that become Guardian Ad Litems for children who have experienced abuse or neglect and help them find their voice in the court system. These volunteers are appointed by family court judges to fulfill their advocacy. To become a CASA you must be 21+, undergo a complete background check, attend 32+ hours of training, and commit to 1 year for consistent and continued service. A CASA is a consistent presence in a child's life while working collaboratively with others involved in the case. They conduct a comprehensive family assessment and make fact based recommendations to the court via a court report. A CASA stands up for the best interest of these children in court, in the community, and in school.

Earlier this week, our new team members from our Brazoria, Matagorda, and Wharton counties joined us for a staff meeting with the entire team. The entire team together for the first time! We discussed the ways we advocate for the children we serve and the plans we have to provide the same level of advocacy for the children in those counties! 💙
